 8月15日讯 菲律宾篮协主席Al Panlilio希望菲律宾男篮能在世界杯拿下两场胜利！ “我们想成为亚洲区战绩最好的球队，我希望我们能赢下两场比赛，如果我们能做到这点，我们就能晋级。可能的话，我们能获得一个奥运会席位。”Al Panlilio说道。 本届男篮世界杯上，东道主之一的菲律宾被分在A组，同组对手包括安哥拉、多米尼加和意大利。按照赛制，本届世界杯上成绩最好的亚洲球队将直通巴黎奥运。
